Jason Day (184) VS Michael Bisping (184)
Mike Swick (170) VS Marcus Davis (170)
Thales Leites (185) VS Nate Marquardt (185)
Fabricio Werdum (247) VS Brandon Vera (228)
Martin Kampmann (186) VS Jorge Rivera (185)
Thiago Tavares (154.5) VS Matt Wiman (155)
Roan Carneiro (171) VS Kevin Burns (170)
Luiz Cane (204) VS Jason Lambert (205)
Jess Liaudin (169) VS Paul Taylor (169)
Eddie Sanchez (244) VS Antoni Hardonk (247)
Matt Hughes vs Thiago Alves
Hard fight to call. Thiago is a storm in the ring. I love how he fights and I want to see him fight GSP but at the same time I don't want to see Matt lose. I think, Matt can win if he gets it to the ground. I think he'll lose if Thiago can keep it standing.
I don't think it will go to decision...most likely a TKO
Jason Day vs Michael Bisping
...My money is on Bisping. I think the 185 lbs suits Bisping. He's a good striker and wrestler and at this weight he seems crip.
I'm thinking referee stoppage in the second round
Mike Swick vs Marcus Davis
Marcus Davis is my pick. He's improved leagues since the show...completely differnt demeaner of fighterr. He's focused and effective. He's becoming very well rounded. Swick hasn't fought in a while and his last fight well that left a lot to be desired and his other fights were too quick for me to assesss anything about him.
Fabricio Werdum vs Brandon Vera
This was just as difficult as the Matt vs Thiago fightt to come up witthh who I think will win.
Though Vera didn't perform well against Tim in his last ight, he was sufferinng from a broken hand he developed in the fight. I have no doubt he's ready.
Werdum has been improving by leagues...has he improved enough? He's tough, strong, and definately deadly.
This will definately be a knock out...not sure who will win but my pick is Vera

Re: UFC 85 Discussion
I would have replied sooner man, but the fights already happened. Didn't catch the event, but wasn't really blown away by any of the match ups. I wasn't too suprised to see Alves win, he is a tough fighter, great muay thai skills, and it seems Hughes didn't evolve with the game. He is stuck as a tough wrestler with almost no striking skills.
In my opinion Alves will get destroyed by GSP, unless GSP doesn't come in focused, as he has a tendency to do from time to time. Also, I think Fitch would manhandle Alves as well. To me Fitch, is like an evolved Hughes. Strong wrestling, strong as hell, and well rounded. His striking wouldn't beat Alves but in everything else, he would own him.
But Alves has to solve his problem with making weight. He got busted for the use of diuretics to make weight, and now he was 4 lbs over the weight limit. 4 lbs is alot to be over. If he doesn't solve that problem, he can lose a title shot a la Lutter.
Every other fight didn't suprise me much. Werdum and Vera, I was pulling for Werdum. Plus Vera needs to cut to 205, and I think the stoppage although a little premature was just. Its the refs call, and if he sees you in a bad position and he doesn't like how it looks, he is going to call it. It happens in MMA.
The only outcome I was suprised to see was Wiman KO'ing Tavares. Tavares is a beast, but shit happens.

Re: UFC 85 Discussion
I must say I was surprised.
Marquart diappointed with the loss of 2 points for illegal techniques..he really won that fight if it wasn't for points being taken
Wiman surprised me...I know he's good I just didn't ralize he learned enough skills to take out thles. Excellent performance.
Vera was doing great then he got mounted and took 28 unanswered shots. Though he was covering up he was moving around as if the blows were affecting him. I thought it was a premature stoppage given the fact that 15 seconds ere left, but based on criticism Dana dealt the EliteXC Kimbo fight where Kimbo took 71 unanswered blows, and the ref didn't stop it. I think it's fair then to say that 28 unanswered blows really is a good judgement call on the refs part. I would have loved to see it go on, but based on the rules. 28 unanswered blows is alot.
Not surpised by the Matt Hughes fight. No evolution what so ever. He better hope Serra doesn't hand it to him aswell or else he'll have a terrible outing from the UFC.
I wasn't surprised by the Kampan man fight. Went as expectd. So did the Bisping fight. Swick fight surprised me. I thought Marcus' superior boxing would have won the day. But Swick seemed to be better at the Juijitsu and wrestling. His corner gave him good advie...stay on the outside, jab and kick. Had to give it to his corner.
